FOX 4 News Provides Ongoing Coverage of 2017 Run4Hope Festival and 5K

Local Dallas news station checks in live to Hope4Harper’s Run4Hope, inviting viewers to participate in the event.

For the sixth year in a row, the non-profit Hope4Harper has organized the Run4Hope in Carrollton, Texas. With the goal of funding neurological research around the country, the Run4Hope was created in honor of Harper Howard, who was born with a rare disorder, known as CDKL5.

Harper’s condition would cause her to suffer seizures and hindered her development. Harper’s parents created Hope4Harper first to help support Harper’s medical expenses and later to keep her memory alive by funding neurological research using Harper’s donated brain and tissue samples.

6th Annual Run4Hope Festival & 5K, held on Saturday, September 16th, featured the charity fun run as well as a Kids Corral, pony rides, food trucks, and a vendor village. Over 160 runners and their families attended this year’s event, assisting Hope4Harper in reaching its fundraising goal.

With a goal of $20,000, this year’s Run4Hope broke expectations, raising over $25,500 to help scientists work for a better understanding of neurological disorders like Harper’s. Medical Marijuana, Inc. subsidiary HempMeds® supported Hope4Harper in beating their goal by becoming a Platinum Sponsor.

Fox 4 News Dallas covered the 2017 Run4Hope Festival & 5K in depth, inviting runners out before the 5K run and cutting in for live coverage multiple times during the course of the event.

Fox 4 News interviewed Penny before the event began to learn more about Harper’s life and her medical condition. The station also took time to chat with Harper’s older sister, 9 year old Lily Howard, who gave some insight into what it was like having a sister like Harper, revealing Harper’s unique personality.
