Hemp and CBD dominate the headlines again this week, as hemp legalization, CBD products, and CBD for pets continue to trend as popular topics.
Medical Marijuana, Inc. and our portfolio of companies were in the news again this past week, highlighting the booming CBD industry as a topic of interest in the U.S. and around the world. Here are our top media coverage from this week.
Legal Domestic Hemp in the U.S.
The Cannabis Business Times published an in-depth article this past week regarding the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill, how this legislation legalizes hemp in the U.S., and what this policy change means for the trending CBD market.
One of the important points raised by the article surrounded the question of hemp research. According to the article, “This provision recognizes the importance, diversity and opportunity of the plant and the products that can be derived from it, but also recognized an important point: There is still a lot to learn about hemp and its products from commercial and market perspectives.”
Medical Marijuana, Inc. CEO Dr. Stuart Titus sees the changes in the 2018 Farm Bill as a potential boon for hemp research, saying, ““Over time you’ll see a great amount of research coming forth on CBD, and this helps to prove out some of the therapeutic or medicinal benefits,” he says. “This has great application for all of us in the CBD industry, just to be able to show some of these benefits to the medical community.”

Pet Insight Features Phyto Animal Health CEO
Popular pet magazine Pet Insight took a look this week at the potential benefits of CBD for pets and the importance of education surrounding CBD to ensure that pet owners are using CBD products safely and effectively.
The article interviewed a half dozen heads of CBD pet products, including Phyto Animal Health founder and CEO Ian Quinn. These business owners spoke about the sudden growth of the pet CBD market and the important issues surrounding the use of CBD with pets and livestock animals.
Pet Insights mentions that improperly labeled products or products that contain inconsistent levels of CBD can lead to irresponsible use of products that contain CBD. Worries about the integrity of CBD products can be allayed by proper testing of these products and sharing the results of these tests with consumers.
“In 2019, we believe the pet CBD providers and manufacturers can improve on educational and customer service support,” Quinn told the magazine. “This includes transparency of third party laboratory testing and the indications of other non-CBD ingredients.”
“Each batch of our HempBone Bacon Apple Donuts are third party tested to make sure they have 155 mg of cinnamon and 4 mg of CBD per chew, which synergize to support digestion and reduce inflammation,” Quinn continued.
All Medical Marijuana, Inc. products undergo our strict Triple Lab Tested™ process, which examines our products for safety and CBD consistency at three points in our manufacturing process, including 3rd party testing.

HempMeds® Spokesperson Liz Carmouche Featured for CBD Advocacy
This past week, Cannabis Aficionado published an article that looked at athletes who advocate for the use of cannabis products for athletes. Titled 20 Athletes Who Advocate for the Use of Cannabis in Sports, the post included U.S. Marine Corps veteran, UFC fighter, and HempMeds® spokesperson Liz Carmouche.
“Carmouche, aka the “Girl-illa” was one of the first females to introduce mixed martial arts (MMA) to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) when she competed against Ronda Rousey in 2013 for the organization’s inaugural women’s title fight. Carmouche is credited as the first openly gay female to compete inside the famous cage,” the article reads.
After seeing the difference CBD products from HempMeds® made in her training regimen, Carmouche became a vocal advocate for the use of CBD by professional and amateur athletes as a training tool.
