Christian Okoye Interviewed on CBS Sports
Former Kansas City Chief fullback and Kannaway spokesperson Christian Okoye joined Tiki and Tierney on CBS Sports on June 1st to promote CBD products and his partnership with Kannaway.
The sports show, hosted by Brandon Tierney and former NFL star Tiki Barber, covers the latest news and developments from around the sports world. In the segment featuring Okoye, the show’s hosts asked the former NFL Pro Bowler about a range of topics, including his former team, his current endeavors, and his newfound interest in the benefits of CBD for athletes like himself.
Okoye was first introduced to CBD oil products by former teammate Nick Lowery. Hesitant at first, Okoye was convinced once he gave CBD a try. The Medical Marijuana, Inc. family of companies took part in New York’s premier cannabis event this past weekend. Held yearly, the Cannabis World Congress & Business Expo brings together businesses, entrepreneurs, medical marijuana patients, and others in the industry for three days of networking, education, and advocacy.
Coverage of Medical Marijuana, Inc.’s participation at the 5th annual CWCBE aired on New York’s PIX 11 news. The segment focused on Okoye’s efforts to promote CBD among athletes and the general public. PIX 11’s coverage also included the work being done by Kannalife™ Sciences to create treatments for common issues faced by athletes, especially football players.
“What we’re looking for is neuroprotection in the classic sense of mild-traumatic brain injury before, during and after to see if we can develop something as a medicine that can be used in the mild-traumatic brain injury and/or CTE,” Petkanas told PIX 11.

HempMeds® Mexico Part of Coverage About Medical Cannabis in Mexico
Medical Marijuana, Inc. subsidiary HempMeds® Mexico was featured as part of a recent VICE Mexico article exploring the rapid growth of medical marijuana in the country.
The article focused mainly on the patients who helped make a difference in the grassroots movement to legalize medical cannabis in Mexico. The piece interviewed Raul Elizalde, HempMeds® President, Latin America, to gain insight into the development of Mexico’s medical cannabis industry.
HempMeds® Mexico was the first company to legally import CBD oil products into Mexico in 2016. Since then, the company has worked with doctors and patients in Mexico to ensure that those in the country who could benefit from CBD has access to it.
“Although for the moment all the products that HempMeds handles are imported, Raúl assures that in the future they would like to manufacture them in the country with Mexican raw materials,” the article said.
Mexico is just one step for HempMeds®’ expansion throughout Latin America. According to the VICE article, “With Hempmeds, Raul seeks to achieve in other Latin American countries what he achieved in Mexico: ‘These medications are not a health hazard,” he concludes. “You have to break that stigma and see it from a point of view that can benefit everyone.’”
