Kannalife™ Sciences Tackles CTE

Kannalife™ Sciences was featured in an article in the Philadelphia Business Journal this week. The piece, titled “Tackling CTE: KannaLife of Doylestown takes new tack in treating brain disorder”, looked at Kannalife™’s efforts to create novel new drugs to treat neurological disorders like Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), a condition caused by repeated blows to the head. Often linked to concussions, CTE has reached epidemic levels in the NFL, where players routinely collide with one another. However, CTE can develop wherever trauma to the head takes place.

Medical Marijuana, Inc. portfolio company Kannalife™ Sciences is currently conducting research and development on a novel compound based on cannabinoids like CBD to act as a preventative and therapeutic treatment for CTE. Kannalife™ Sciences holds an exclusive license with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for the commercialization of U.S. Patent #6630507, “Cannabinoids as Antioxidants and Neuroprotectants.” Using this patent, the company is hoping to create a drug that will protect and possibly even heal the brain when exposed to trauma.

With the current work to develop a cannabinoid-based treatment and further research adding to our understanding of CTE and its devastating effects, we may to be closer than ever before to uncovering an effective way to protect the brains of NFL players.

Marijuana and Cryptocurrencies

Medical Marijuana, Inc.’s CEO Dr. Stuart Titus was quoted this week in an article on The Oofy that explored the role cryptocurrencies are playing within the marijuana industry. The Oofy is dedicated to covering financial technology news from around the world.

The article explores five different cannabis industry focused cryptocurrencies to see how these financial tools have the potential to disrupt the traditionally cash only industry. The article interviews several finance and marijuana industry experts, including Dr. Titus, to gauge the future of banking and finance for cannabis.

“There is also the potential for marijuana to be traded as a commodity, similar to how corn and other agricultural products are now bought and sold, or as an asset-based security, similar to the way mortgages have long been bundled and sold to investors,” said Dr. Titus in the article.

Dr. Titus in Bustle

Dr. Titus was also interviewed for an article looking at CBD posted on Bustle this week. Titled “How Does CBD Coffee Work? This Buzzy Addition To Your Morning Joe Is Everywhere The Compound Is Legal”, the article closely explores the potential benefits that CBD can provide, especially when infused into a cup of coffee.

Dr. Titus shared his expertise on the physiological effects of CBD and how its addition to your morning coffee can enhance your general wellbeing. Because of the effects of CBD, more and more companies are infusing it into products like coffee beverages.
