[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The official Proposition 64 election night party in San Diego received live coverage on prominent local and national news outlets, as attendees celebrated legal adult use marijuana.

Cannabis advocates and Prop. 64 supporters gathered on the rooftop of the Andaz Hotel in downtown San Diego to wait for Tuesday’s election results to come in. The crowd didn’t have to wait long. Just after 8 pm, the Associated Press announced that Proposition 64 had passed, allowing adults 21 and over to legally possess and consume marijuana recreationally. The AP called it a victory with just 20 percent of the votes reported. The final tally would see 56 percent of California voters choosing the measure. CEO Dr. Stuart Titus on the benefits cannabis legalization can provide California in the coming months and years, including tax revenue, law enforcement savings, and improved social justice. In this segment, Dr. Titus was asked about the medical benefits of cannabis legalization and the potential health impacts its use will have on the California population.

Under Proposition 64, adults ages 21 and over are legally allowed to possess and transport up to one ounce of marijuana for personal use. The law also allows the cultivation of up to six cannabis plants. California’s legalization measure is expected to bring in over $1.6 billion in sales in the first year of business, growing to $6.46 billion by 2020.
