Hemp legalization, CBD for pets, and medical marijuana in Latin American lead Medical Marijuana, Inc.’s headlines in this week’s news.

Medical Marijuana, Inc.’s global efforts to expand access to CBD and promote its benefits to a worldwide audience was once again on display in a number of international media outlets this week. We’ve collected the highlights below.

Medical Marijuana, Inc. CEO Interviewed by U.S. News & World Report

Medical Marijuana, Inc. CEO Dr. Stuart Titus was interviewed as part of a recent article by U.S. News & World Report looking at shifting perceptions of U.S. lawmakers regarding hemp and marijuana legalization.

The core of the article looked at the 2018 Farm Bill, which includes language that would legalize hemp as an agricultural and commercial commodity. The omnibus law is edging closer to passing.

“This farm bill is going to be a total game-changer,” says Stuart Titus, CEO of Medical Marijuana Inc. While hemp has important differences from marijuana, “I think this is going to be a tremendous step forward” in winning federal approval of marijuana use, he says.

Many cannabis industry insiders and those with connections to Capitol Hill are confident that changing laws regarding hemp signal a potential shift in overall cannabis policy, including federal marijuana legalization, in the near future.

The Guardian Features Pet CBD from Phyto Animal Health

In a recent article exploring the effects of cannabis and specifically CBD on pets, The Guardian featured Medical Marijuana, Inc. subsidiary Phyto Animal Health and the company’s efforts to put healthy, safe CBD products into the hands of pet owners and veterinarians for the animals in their lives.

According to The Guardian, “Pet owners who are curious about CBD are still largely on their own. Few veterinarians know much about it; it’s not taught in US veterinary schools.” This is a big reason why Phyto Animal Health has undertaken a campaign to educate pet owners, veterinarians, and pet store owners about the many health benefits of CBD and the advantages of CBD products from the Phyto Animal Health store. This grassroots effort includes local speaking engagements, customer Q&As, product donations to animal rescue organizations, and even hands on volunteering.

A member of the Phyto Animal Health Veterinary Advisory Board, Stephen Cital, RVT, SRA, RLAT, VTS-Lab Animal, was interviewed for the piece to offer his expertise on CBD for pets, including discussing increased availability and a shifting public perception.

The article reads, “Stephen Cital, a veterinary technician who advises the CBD company Phyto Animal Health, predicts that as access improves, more of the compounds found in cannabis will be incorporated into animal treatment, paralleling growing interest in these chemicals for humans. He said cannabis has been tested on 24 species, including birds, reptiles and invertebrates.”
